I want to chop my hair off. I want a slightly shaggy boy cut. I want to send the braid off to Locks of Love. I currently have about 14" long, braided, so even longer ponytailed.

I want to know how long the waiting period should be on a decision like this.

I want to know if you think it will look good.

I promise not to take anything you vote too seriously.

While at some point you'll probably be willing to get cheap haircuts (having short hair really reminds you that it does grow back, and relaxes your attitude toward who touches it), for the first one you'll probably want to go to someone reputable and a little pricy. That's mostly for peace of mind and security, since I've gotten my best haircuts for under $20 (Supercuts, my friend Robbie) and my worst for more (*cough*Michael*cough*).

The lovely part of sending it off to Locks of Love is that a great number of places (including Gene Juarez) will do the haircut for free.

I don't want it to look all chicky, though, and I don't want it to look WRONG once it's grown out half an inch. I want simple.

The sad truth about short hair is that you have to maintain it. That said, a good simple haircut will still look look when it's growing out. It just might not look like the same haircut all the time.
