I want to chop my hair off. I want a slightly shaggy boy cut. I want to send the braid off to Locks of Love. I currently have about 14" long, braided, so even longer ponytailed.

I want to know how long the waiting period should be on a decision like this.

I want to know if you think it will look good.

I donated 12" a couple years ago to Locks of Love.
I didn't go for "short" hair, though. I had it long enough so that when 12" were cut it was still below my shoulder blades. I was thinking about doing it again this year, because I now have enough again. Hubby wants me to keep it this long, though.

I much prefer having long hair, but mine isn't as heavy/thick as yours. I also tend to do a variety of things to it that I couldn't do if I had short hair.

With long hair:
I like not having to frequently get it cut
You typically don't need to use "products" in it
It's fun being topless but being able to cover up with flowy hair
Bad hair days are less common because the weight of the long hair keeps everything more neatly down... you never get that awful stick-up-in-one-spot slept in problem that can happen with shorter hair.

If you do go for short or shorter hair... I could picture something a more sassy on you than a shaggy boy cut (or at least, what I am picturing as shaggy boy cut). Get something that really works with your face and features and it could look great.
