Serendipity

This morning I thought, "If I enjoy reading Hark, a Vagrant!, I can probably draw well enough to make something people would enjoy." Then I thought, "A daily drawing prompt to doodle during my work breaks would be a good start."

So I found an excellent and flexible prompt generator which has the feature of allowing you to re-randomize individual elements, like a Mad Lib until you find something that inspires you. I clicked each word once.

"wrathful", "doctor" (um, yes, I can draw that), "floating" (I'll need the blue highlighter), "around a zoo"

I just have to decide what kind of alien critters to put in the cages. Probably sentient specimens. He'd be rather wrathful about that.

Thank you, random prompt generator. I love you so much.

I think Hark! A Vagrant is very well drawn. The style is rough and sketchy, but the fundaments are sound. I would aspire to that level of skill fer sher.

I wanna see floating and wrathful!

I agree she has skillz. On the other hand, her drawing style pushes all of my "that's proportioned wrong and looks all awkward" buttons, which are what I consider basically unacceptable in my drawings.

So what she draws looks the same kind of bad to me as what I draw. Since I enjoy reading her work, I find this encouraging.

That sounds like a good sort of inspiration!

This reminds me of that little plastic crazy sentence generator you girls played with when you were learning to read. Trying to remember any of the phrases . . . screamed sideways comes to mind.

Glad you're drawing. Proportions are overrated.
