Crafts crafts crafts crafts crafts cocoa spill

Lesson learned today: My 12oz ceramic mug that's shaped like a paper cup is only 12 non-foamy ounces. There was an automated cocoa machine incident.

Today was my last day camping in the borrowed managerial office. Le sigh. I will miss the beautiful view of Downtown [City] and the free chocolate milk.

I owe [livejournal.com profile] who_knits a post about how to knit plaid, and have pictures queued for the hat I knitted. I'm now pounding through a Hufflepuff scarf which is incredibly boring but very good for bus time, and wondering what to knit next. If anyone actively craves a custom scarf or hat, especially one with some kind of ridiculous pop culture pattern on it that would let me geek out on picky technique, let me know.

I folded a flexicube out of J's business cards that we just ordered that accidentally had his old phone number on them. They're great for origami because each one has a giant bright red question mark on the back. The aesthetic is half Doctor Who and half The Prisoner, and they suit him perfectly. And they make great paper art.

My t-shirt design took 28th (out of over 200 entries) and got an Honorable Mention from the Wootlords. I'm boggling. Honorable Mention means it'll be up for a vote again in the next few months, but I'm not holding my breath for it to print because it's not demographically targeted at Woot voters. So I need to figure out how one handles the logistics of t-shirt preordering and printing.

(Boring details: It's designed for the Woot spec, 6-color screen printing, which is INSANE and most places charge by the color for obvious reasons. I might be able to take the design down to five colors, but the best option for print-your-own tops out at three. Digital dot printing from a picture does not come out as sharp, especially on a black shirt, but I'm considering having one printed that way to find out if it looks as crappy as I imagine, because it's a lot easier to get print-on-demand with that technology. Anyone here know a domain expert in t-shirt printing?)

... Apparently I have a lot of creative output. That's pretty awesome. To a certain extent I'm writing this post to remind myself of that the next time I think, "Oh, I don't really do much of anything except dink around reading stuff on my computer."

My 12oz ceramic cup that looks like a paper cup (the DCI "I Am Not A Paper Cup" one) is actually only 11.5oz, which, yes, has led to one or two incidents... :)

You don't know how proud I am of my daughter and her ilk (sisters) who took Violet Emma's legacy of knitting and turned it into an art form. Since I can knit, purl and slip a few stitches and that's all I taught you, all of this geeking out on picky technique is making my heart tap dance.

That and knowing your arm/wrist/elbow are all strong and mended.
