Trackball quest

I've been meaning, for the last 18 months, to purchase a trackball. I've gone to stores three or four times with the intention of getting a trackball. On the most successful of those occasions I found that both Cap Hill's computer store and Best Buy only offer trackballs with a base helpfully molded to conform to your right hand, which really puts a crimp in switching hands to distribute the stress or being lefthanded.

I'm reluctant to just buy something online without a very good recommendation, and I'd really rather just go to a store where I can touch them. Where did all the trackballs go? Were they a three year trend that someone decided just wasn't profitable enough anymore? If you were me, where would you go?

Sitting update: Every day, and I got me a real live official sitting pillow which makes it MUCH easier on my back than the makeshift pillow stacks I was making before. Still not Buddha.

Work update: There are only so many pictures of David Beckham and Paris Hilton you can look at before your hand starts twitching for the spork. Then you get a nice ambiguous word like "Explode" and you want to go back to the Paris Hilton pictures.

Try Fry's. They have everything.

Have you looked at the websites of the manufacturers? They might have sinister versions of the models that big chains only carry dexterously.

Yep that's the one

I was going to try to find a pic/link for this exact same mouse. I don't use it myself, but R. swears by his. The scroll ring and 4-button set-up is extra handy.

I just discovered R has one of that make promisingly proximate to our giveaway pile. He's in coder (don't-talk-to-me-stupid-human) mode, but when he recovers I'm happy to investigate the prospects for you if you like.

It's definitely old, but still functional and in the giveaway pile.
1) It's serial not USB
2) It's not optical so the motion is a little rough
3) No nifty scroll ring

If you still want it, it's yours.

Hi. :)

After last night, I felt like looking you up on here. I've added you to my reading list, but reciprocity isn't required.
