You never really know someone...

I just met my best friend from fourth grade in the grocery store. I remembered her name correctly (Michelle), and we exchanged pleasantries, including the obligatory Event Tally. She's recently divorced with two kids, aged 6 and 4.

I do the math in my head and pause. She says, "Yeah, I had _____ nine days before graduation. No one knew about it. I didn't even show. *giggle*"

Our entire senior year, and she didn't even tell her best friend. (Not me. But she didn't even tell her *current* best friend.)

I cannot imagine the isolation.

I can imagine some things you don't tell your best friend. Granted, this one I'm not so sure about.

I remember when I heard about her having a baby I was really shocked. I heard it from her cousin, Angie C. God the valley is small.

Michelle who? I remember you in fourth grade, but you had a book at the time. I don't remember a Michelle.

Oh, and I remember that "ballet" is spelled with two L's. >:(

From the same day I remember that "adobe" is "uh-DOUGH-bee", not "AY-dobe" as I'd been pronouncing it to myself in Three Investigators books.

Good old Three Investigators books.

Call me and I'll give you more detail on Michelle. I try not to write full names in LJ.
