Hey, Seattleites (or other readers who live in large cities)!

I'm hunting for a surrogate shopper, preferably the sort of person who likes going to import shops. I need one of the giant celtic knot tapestries they dye in India and sell to college students, and I'm not finding what I need online.

This is a wedding present for my father and his wife who are publically confirming their vows pretty soon. (They got married in the woods without anyone looking -- this is just firming it up.) Their wedding rings are patterned with trinity knots, also called triquetras and all sorts of other things.

The online vendors seem to be buying the same four designs from the same source, so I need someone with access to an actual store with some variety to find me something better. This is the only kind of triquetra tapestry I can find. The lines are far too skinny for its size and it doesn't show the over-unders. I'm looking for something with more shape and body to the lines, less mechanically drafted.

The exact style and complexity doesn't matter, as long as it is aesthetically satisfying. I've seen some very clever ones with a heart worked into the middle and so on, but I'll settle for anything with three points and some creative grace.

The wedding and bedroom colors are apparently cream, eggplant and burgundy wine red (the blue side, not the orange), but they're also partial to a true purple.

So, who wants to go shopping for me? I will cover all shipping costs, plus a finder's fee.

I'll check for you. There's an Irish import shop here somewhere, and many hippy stores. What's your deadline?

Labor Day weekend, so I have about a month.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Other potential shoppers, I want to make sure my bases are covered, so please don't ditch this just because one person is looking?

gaelsong.com has a carpet: http://www.gaelsong.com/Gcart/index.cfm?page=_ProductDetails&ProductId=WD3003

And a throw: http://www.gaelsong.com/Gcart/index.cfm?page=_ProductDetails&ProductId=D5001

They're probably not *exactly* what you're looking for, but they might work.

I'll keep an eye out, but not sure I'll find one. :)

Huh. Their web site's a lot better than their store presence, I see. I went to their store a month or two ago after seeing an ad in the Stranger, and was Very Disappointed. :(

I can take a look at that one store on the Ave just north of 43rd. I think it usually has that kind of stuff. Except I've never been in, just seen and smelled it from the street. :)

Sadly, my father is almost violently allergic to crosses, though his wife likes them. If I can't get a trinity knot, I'll probably end up going with one of the commonly available mandala prints. *sigh*

Thanks for the links, though. These are gorgeous.

Huh. I didn't even know they *had* a store.

I didn't know they had a website, so we're even. ;)

The store's at 65th and 21st NE in Wedgwood.

I must needs report failure, I'm afraid. I couldn't find anything like it in the Irish store or the hippy stores. I probably should've said so a bit earlier, since the deadline was this coming weekend - sorry about that.
