gementI have what Eddie Izzard would probably call "a horrible f*@#-off sore throat." It kept me up most of the night, and I watched a lot of late night cable, including the Alec Baldwin version of The Shadow. It's been a long time. Cool voicing, lighting and eye tricks, PAINFUL cgi. I also watched a lot of music videos, so now I'm dosed up on popular culture for another two years. I only really enjoy mindless surfing when I'm sick, now that all the good cartoons have bit the dust. But I may watch more of the Turner Classic Movie channel now that I know it's there. It gave me Murder By Death last night.
I haven't enjoyed my sick day today at all, because painful swallowing means I can't really relax into the whole slightly stoned fever experience. Also, it hit yesterday afternoon at work, and I said I'd get some time sensitive tasks done, and they're not done, and I wrote to my boss at 5:30, along the lines of "I'm wiped out, afraid I'd screw up if I finished tonight, I will send the quotes out tomorrow." Well, it's tomorrow, and I'm nowhere near functional enough to do anything but crawl into the bath and pray for some kind of throat-sterilizing miracle. More listerine, more hot lemon, more zinc.
