Shrewsbury! (Shrowsburry)
Sep. 18th, 2005 10:52 amI am in the county seat of Shropshire Co., where the public library has a PIRATE FLAG flying from the tower of its very old building, in honor of the summer reading programme which ends on September 19th, International Talk Like A Pirate Day.
Conveniently, they also allow anyone who can show ID to use the internet. I heart public libraries.
I saw a castle yesterday morning! A castle! A real live castle, with its own walled city, and lots of little climbey towers! I felt about six. Caernarfon, northern tip of Wales, so all the signs are in Welsh first. Wind and rain and mist off the Irish Sea, my heavy cloak has finally found some wind it can billow in.
Aziraphale got to do Shropshire. It shows. "Idyllic" makes a stab at thinking about beginning to cover it. And it's got a Grope Lane, which is a very narrow alley with good blind spots for not being seen in. Gosh, I wonder how it got its name...
Oxford tomorrow afternoon.
