Ballet recommendation: Swan Lake.
Feb. 18th, 2004 10:11 amI keep meaning to get around to posting this. I guess today's the day. Watch Swan Lake!
Okay, maybe not everyone in the world should watch Swan Lake. But many people on my friends list should. Basically, the director (Matthew Bourne) took the Tchaikovsky score and the fact that it starred royalty, and threw out the rest of the script.
The result is a parody of British royalty, a love story, a tragedy, and a gorgeous all-male chorus line of sweating shirtless "swans." Here's a link to the official photo gallery if you can't picture this.
And finally, because I don't seem to be able to wean myself from the quiz crack: 57.142857142857146% of me is a huge nerd! How about you?
This test was fun, and had some excellently subtle "you had to be there" questions, such as the cleverly disguised Monty Python problem. I was only as low as I was because about 1/3 of the questions concerned video games, which I don't play. Otherwise I think I hit about 80-90%.

See? Major nerd, right there.
But you're not a very detail-oriented nerd, as evidenced by the fact that you don't remember the plots of any Discworld books, even though you read them all.
Re:
Date: 2004-02-19 04:47 pm (UTC)Certainly, I shall sing the song for you!! From memory, no less!
"Now the world has gone to bed,
Darkness won't engulf my head,
I can see by infrared,
How I hate the night.
Now I lay me down to sleep,
Try to count electric sheep,
Sweet dream wishes you can keep,
How I hate the night."
And from the same story...
"He inched his way up the corridor as if he would rather be yarding his way down it, which was true."
