About the TSA screening opt-out protests:

I rarely post political signal boosts, because it's too often preaching to the choir, but people's reactions and arguments are varying widely, and I want the world to be a kinder place. This one's also personally important to me, because I have gender stuff, and I love people who have more gender stuff, and this has a huge impact there. I know someone who briefly considered cancelling an entire vacation because it would mean facing this choice as a trans person.

I think our personal health, safety, and privacy are important. I think not ordering minimum wage employees to do upsetting and intimate things is important. And I think breaking the TSA pat-down system by overloading it is the most effective way of stopping this mess.

If you are flying, and if you do not have personal reasons why it would be bad for you, I hope you will opt-out of the body scan and look them in the eye with me. And I hope you will be kind to them, because they're not paid enough, and they're under a lot of pressure.

http://elusis.livejournal.com/2141915.html says all the things I could possibly say about this and then some, and posts a copy of this comic comparing it to the Milgram Experiments, which I already intended to post. Be sure to read the note after the comic regarding what made the percentages drop even further.

Gender on ID must match what, genitalia? Have they just put tens, maybe hundreds of thousands of transgendered people on the no-fly list?
