Strange dreams
Jul. 28th, 2003 07:33 amI used to have really coherent dreams. They weren't on the enviable level of having recurrent plots or characters, and I almost never got preexisting fictional characters, which is ironic given how much I daydream about them, but they were DETAILED.
I've been missing them for over a year now. It used to be that losing my coherent dreams was a sign of really poor mental health, but I've been maintaining really well, and not feeling any of the mind-numbing depression that used to fuzz them out. Plus that usually made me not remember any dreams at all.
This is more like my old and very rare fever dreams, where no detail stands out enough to even tell people a dream was about something. It's more like I spend the whole night trying to remember things I've thought of because they're very important and then I wake up and it's all just air. It's not very restful, and I always wake up feeling like I'm missing something important.
Right now "Love me two times" is in my head because it sounds a lot like a song I heard on the radio in my sleep. I dreamed writing down as many lyrics as I could make out, so I could google them later. (I could only make out fragments.) I can see the shape of the words on the page, which I'd been writing a lot of other lyrics on. That's the clearest dream image I've remembered in weeks.
Am I just stressed or is it possible I've "grown out of" my cool dreams? That would make me sad.

Date: 2003-07-28 07:50 am (UTC)If I go to bed earlier, and therefore, dream earlier, I'm less likely to remember I've drempt at all.
So maybe it's timing?
You could be having tons of cool dreams and just not remembering that you're having them.
Supposedly, if you keep a dream journal by your bed and write down anything you've dreamed before even getting out of bed in the morning, it trains your mind to remember what you've dreamed. I'm always too lazy to try that, though.
By the way- I added you to my friends list. Feel free to add me back. ;)

And no, no offense if you take me back off your list again. Oh, and Rich rocks, so you should like his journal, too.

Date: 2003-07-28 08:08 pm (UTC)Heh. One of my favorite dreams was one where I was on a flat rock in space with low artificial gravity, unless you were inside the domes. I almost jumped out of the atmosphere by accident. Woke up in a panic.
