Month 1: 22 yoga classes.
Month 2: 12 yoga classes.
Month 3: 12 yoga classes.
Then I bought a three month pass, predictably went into a bad anxiety jag then went on vacation for a week then got a new job across the water. :D I think I managed 6 in June, and I'll be trying to hit evening classes but we'll see how I do on using at least 24 of my 36 before mid September.
Even if it all drops off at this point, it was a massive anchor during my unemployment, keeping me steady and really helping me straighten out my shoulders and neck. Some days it still felt really awful and twitchy and like my body was all put together wrong, but the only time I left a class due to anxiety was less than a week ago, and that was during my worst patch in at least a year.
Oh, also, I should note here that in all three months, while my neck tension got better and worse, it never magically went away no matter how careful and good formful and going regularly and modifying all the arm movements I was. So the next time I go to kick myself because I imagine I could magically make it go away with better movement practices, I can stuff it, because I've made a good effort there. It helps, certainly, but it's not a magic wand.
Dear Future Me,
You have won at yoga. You did this. Even if you stopped, you were successful.
Me.
