I hereby thank [livejournal.com profile] tylik for teaching me that if you dump some oat bran in a bowl with water and microwave it for 3 minutes, you get delicious hot breakfast cereal exactly the consistency that I like. This is not quite as exciting to me as the new flame, but it's surprisingly close.

I eat both breakfast and lunch at work every day. I strongly prefer to eat things that I can buy as 1 or 2 ingredients at the grocery store, keep in the freezer or desk drawer, dump in the microwave if necessary, and eat.

Because I've been doing this for a while, my available hot foods include broccoli, spinach, frozen peas, strawberry-and-cream soup, toast-and-cottage-cheese, sausage with potatoes, and scrambled eggs. And now hot cereal.

(I'll also eat canned stew and hot pockets, but I tend to keep those in reserve for when the fresh stuff runs out. I don't go to the store often enough to keep things like spinach constantly available.)

Glad to hear it's working out for you!

I am ridiculously fond of oat bran, in many forms, but convenience is a big one. At home we take turns mixing up a big pot of oat bran / rice bran / ground flax seeds / crushed walnuts (or almonds) and cinnamon... but when I'm travelling it tends to get simplified.

I've already preemptively thrown ground flax seed into my bin of it at work. I'm using frozen raspberries as my highlight flavor for now.
