Room clean
Aug. 3rd, 2003 11:41 pmI worked until I dropped today.
Several loads of laundry, floor cleared, counters cleared, ripped up and reconfigured two computers, swapping hard drives this way and that to get all my data onto my current system, AND helped my mom do the same.
cristoforio came over and kept me company for at least an hour. I didn't pay him nearly the attention he deserved for that kindness.
Then I had
dragon_blooms over and couldn't stand still or converse like a human. I just kept saying, "Look, my room's clean!" like a broken record, and puttering around finding more to do. Very entertaining conversational topic for her, I'm sure. I bet my permanent banality rating went up from today. I'm no house-elf.
Edit: On the plus side, it poured here last night and today. Cool damp air in my lungs, temperature didn't go above 76 outside. It was heaven, felt just like home. Mom said she woke up in a panic attack because she felt like she couldn't breathe. Apparently she's not comfortable with humidity.
It's funny. I'm the one who lived here since I was SIX, and my body snapped into Seattle's climate norms within months of moving there... though I can still tolerate the desert heat very well indeed, better than almost anyone I know. That's come in handy with the two week 110F streak here.

Enjoy

Date: 2003-08-04 01:14 am (UTC)But if there's one thing that my mom gave me, its the fact that if you get me started cleaning, I often can't stop, and find myself poring over tiny little details that no one cares about and will probably never notice. Grr! This dual nature! Save me!
But congratulations on a mission accomplished :)

Date: 2003-08-04 02:41 am (UTC)I live currently in ... well, kind of like the usual climate there, probably. It just isn't right! Oh well. Toronto's actually acceptable, that way, although a little hotter than I'd like. And the lake-effect snow sucks a hell of a lot.
Look at me, it's 3:41, and I'm posting in a livejournal about weather.
I think I'll go to sleep now. No work tomorrow, la la la.

Date: 2003-08-04 01:09 pm (UTC)But other than that, yeah. I think adults, as a statistical group, have a much lower tolerance for stuff everywhere. We don't want to spend our energy trying to walk from one side of the room to the other anymore.
What's this about S & C moving back to Seattle? And do you recall our old home number? If so, call me sometime, and at least leave a message with your current number because I keep losing it and my grasp of email usage has gone to pretty much nothing over the last two years.

Date: 2003-08-04 01:44 pm (UTC)Stauche and Cry might be headed back to Seattle. Stauche said the navy will be paying for his schooling at UW. I don't know the fine details, just that it could be as early as October. If they're still around at the end of November, they'll be coming to my house for Thanksgiving. Wooop!
Crystal cut off all of her hair. It's really short now. She does it up all cute with bobby pins and hair gel. It inspired me to do something (anything) with my hair. That's why it's so big today. Curls everywhere.

Date: 2003-08-04 05:11 pm (UTC)...I don't know if that's really sad or pretty cool.
