Jul. 26th, 2012 10:57 pmI started reading tumblr because that's where much of the Homestuck is.
I kept reading tumblr because it's very good at hitting the same shiny brain buttons as LJ, and scrolls faster so I have to devote more time to keeping up. And because it's where the Homestuck is, and I was not going to talk about that here, but it seems to have been my primary fandom for months now.
I am now going to make a concerted effort to come back here, subscribe to what Homestuck I can that's still on LJ, and get back to the land of people I actually know and a comment system that (usually) allows people to actually engage in dialogue. Because the last month has not been brilliant for my mental health.
I may keep skimming tumblr, but I need to work at really truly adopting a stance of non-completion. I don't know how to do that. It's why I don't do twitter unless someone tags me, because otherwise I would spend all day trying frantically to keep up.
Fear of Missing Something is really nasty.
Anyway, I've skimmed back 200 entries but I'm sure I missed things. Anything you think I should focus my eyes on?
By the way, Romana I and Liz Shaw have both died. :( They were two of my underappreciated favorites, both for their sharp wit and impatience with the Doctor's BS. This has been a hard couple years for old DW actors.

I've managed to the point where I can pretty consistently go, "Do I actually care enough to read this? No!" I did this through a few days of fairly rigorous training on Facebook and very deliberately asking myself that question for each little thing (especially external links). The world has somehow managed not to end yet.
Also, being incredibly absorbed in projects that I am currently working on (which I promise to share on LJ if I get permission to from work) has helped me keep in mind the question of whether I have time to catch up on each and every little thing. Also also, I try to set intent ahead of time to get in and get out.
I've stopped following Twitter because I haven't been able to get it tweaked to an acceptable signal-to-noise ratio for me (i.e. the answer to the above question in response to most of what I see on there is "no")

Anyway, welcome back, good to hear from you again, will try to give you more HS feedsideways soon! ^_^
