I am Jack's territorial insecurity, closely followed by his tendency to sleep with anything that moves ("You have to find yourself a girl, mate..."). Which of Jack's bizarre sayings are you?

Note to self: Do not use dominant hand to play with vicious arm-eating cat.

In other news, my room is a complete sty and I am going to have to call in the cavalry to get it clean again. Since I am looking at moving in a rapidly decreasing number of months (mm, panic), it's time to swab it out once and for all.

I thought I'd made some headway last time, but this sort of thing requires follow-through. The counters I cleared last time are already full again, though full of simpler things. Yes, I have a bit of territorial insecurity about my stuff. It's my stuff! The correct solution to this is, in the words of Douglas Adams, a small navigable river, but I don't have one handy and I'd miss all my stuff.

Room clean

I worked until I dropped today.

Several loads of laundry, floor cleared, counters cleared, ripped up and reconfigured two computers, swapping hard drives this way and that to get all my data onto my current system, AND helped my mom do the same. [livejournal.com profile] cristoforio came over and kept me company for at least an hour. I didn't pay him nearly the attention he deserved for that kindness.

Then I had [livejournal.com profile] dragon_blooms over and couldn't stand still or converse like a human. I just kept saying, "Look, my room's clean!" like a broken record, and puttering around finding more to do. Very entertaining conversational topic for her, I'm sure. I bet my permanent banality rating went up from today. I'm no house-elf.

Edit: On the plus side, it poured here last night and today. Cool damp air in my lungs, temperature didn't go above 76 outside. It was heaven, felt just like home. Mom said she woke up in a panic attack because she felt like she couldn't breathe. Apparently she's not comfortable with humidity.

It's funny. I'm the one who lived here since I was SIX, and my body snapped into Seattle's climate norms within months of moving there... though I can still tolerate the desert heat very well indeed, better than almost anyone I know. That's come in handy with the two week 110F streak here.
