Recurring nightmare
Dec. 3rd, 2003 06:15 amI used to have recurring nightmares about swarms. Mice, ants, bees, anything that my imagination could make about the size of a bonbon and send between my sheets in biting squirming squads. I would wake up with a twitch and a gasp, and be unable to sleep because every twinge of my suddenly sensitive skin would feel like little legs.
These dreams were usually associated with situational stress, feeling like I was putting off necessary tasks, and stress between me and Mom. They cleared up completely when I moved out for college. As of last night they're back with a vivid technicolor vengeance and the detailed imagination of an adult who's been making up her own television shows.
SPIDERS. Not just nonsensically swarming around my bedroom anymore either. Nesting under each of the sinks in the house, many different varieties of tropically patterned tarantula in all the colours of Don't F--- With Me. I went around trying to rout them; I may have been using a high pressure spray of some kind. All it did was piss them off, and then they started crawling all over and wouldn't stay under the sinks and everything got bad, because once disturbed they would not go back into hiding.
Ahem. So, if water = emotion and swarms = undone tasks, then inciting diverse species of spider to attack from under the pipework by using a water jet sounds an awful lot like: "You've paid enough energy into this moving to Seattle thing that it's Not Going Away. You know, what with your quit date coming up Dec. 17? It's not going away and you're going to have to send out some applications one of these YEARS or it'll bite you in the arse. And by the way, living with Mom is starting to get on your nerves, high time to get out."
There was more to it, of course (another sign of my new advanced dreaming abilities), including an inkling of Giles' face, but that could be wishful thinking. When I was a kid I never got cameo appearances either (except for one memorable adventure in the KMart with James Bond Jr.), so that's another thing that's sharpened up recently.

Just give me an idea what pay-range you're interested in and what type of job you're looking for and I'll keep an eye open for anything that meets that criteria.

Everyone was in live action except the cartoon people, but it didn't seem to cause any problems. We were in the K-Mart looking for an inflatable life raft for white water rafting. I have no idea who was chasing us, but we were going to get away on the raft.
