I've been stalled on the applications process since October 2003. That's five months of saying to myself, nearly every day, "I should really get out applications today. At least one. Something." Five months of sounding very optimistic and not actually doing anything. I would often lie to people about having sent out at least a couple applications.
Then, this weekend, I packed all my books on Friday, all my media on Saturday, and all my clothes on Sunday. Under the weight of all those neatly labeled white boxes, it became painfully clear that I really am moving, as in NOW...
And I sent applications to three temp agencies this morning. I barely even thought about it. It needed doing, so I did it.
How do other people do this without a massive application of adrenaline? I'd really like to get the knack. In the meantime, I'm riding the wave. More packing, ahoy!

Date: 2004-03-23 09:25 am (UTC)Have you ever read the book Wishcraft by Barbara Sher? I'm sure I've probably inflicted it on you by now, but I don't remember.
Best of luck on your move and job search. It takes guts to conciously decide to overcome inerta and do it. You're doing great!
