My research project this quarter is on Information Grounds - places where people casually exchange information in a social setting, like a coffee shop or the refreshments table after church or Livejournal friendslists (for those of us who don't often get together physically).
My group's topic is the Seattle Wiccan community. If you participate in the Wiccan community in Seattle, or know someone who does, please consider helping me find contacts for this. We need preliminary data in the next few weeks. Comment below or write to me if you are interested.
The Details
The first step is identifying likely information grounds - bookstores such as Edge of the Circle, other businesses that attract or cater to the community, groups who meet to socialize/do rituals together/go to movies, online discussion groups, etc. We welcome input from the larger pagan community, though we hope to focus in on Wiccan culture.
If you know of a real live group in a cozier environment than "waiting for people to walk by in the bookstore" that a researcher might be allowed to respectfully observe within the next few weeks, please let me know. Thank you.
[Edit Oct 14, 3:00pm: Had announced that we needed preliminary data by October 19, due to a misunderstanding of the assignment deadlines. Corrected to state appropriate time frame.]
