First, to business: If you know someone who needs weirdo-friendly Seattle housing for the summer (or longer), J and I are subletting 2 bedrooms, either together or separately. http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/sub/729172062.html

Second, a life update: I've been having trouble focusing at work, which is scary, but it's getting better (I hope), which is good. I may be asking my doc for a med adjustment; this funk has lasted since March.

I got great author-snacks in person from gramina yesterday, for something like three hours, plus delicious noodly lunch with her and Mickey. The God-damned Quest may be rewritten soon accordingly, since I have a better jig for it. She did the big-picture editor "You should try adding this" thing, and it was very helpful. I transcribed 8600 words yesterday and have another 3000 in notebooks waiting for the same.

I went to the last 20 minutes of the Solstice parade on Saturday. I wasn't feeling very happy, so I asked my main vamp Aldo to hang out in the back of my head and make pithy observations on human nature.

His response to me was, "It's one in the afternoon... on the Summer Solstice. And you want me to get out of bed."

"Well, y'know. Naked hippies. And crowds of tasty humans off their guard and smiling and laughing and acting exuberant? You're usually into that kind of thing."

"It's... noon. On the Summer Solstice. And you want me to come watch the pretty Bohemians play at Fairy rites. God help them if they should ever see the real thing."

"Fine. Stay home."

"Zzzzz"

But the conversation cheered me up.

I may call you directly to discuss your housemate option... rent will be going up another $100 in September, and I'm not sure I can make the financing work. AS you are well aware, I most definitely need a wierdo friendly environment.
