Okay, rare political post
Oct. 3rd, 2008 09:35 amI really hope that you (yes, you. YOU.) are registered to vote. It is embarrassing to me how many people never even bother to register, let alone vote. In voter turnout, America is 35th in the world [cite]. 56% of eligible voters participated in the last presidential election, which means almost half of us didn't vote. This is embarrassing.
Are you registered? Deadline's October 4th. Are you sure? Please check here. If it turns out you're not, that link will also help you fix that.*
I'm not kidding around here.
Anyway, in other news, this video made me laugh out loud at work. I haven't seen so many celebrity cameos since the David Duchovny video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0vtHwWReGU0
* Edit: the previous link is paid for by the Obama campaign, but is the user-friendliest I could find and doesn't say anything about how you should vote, just gets you signed up. If you want the non-partisan (as if registration is partisan), more DIY version, try http://www.votersunite.org/info/RegInfo.asp

Re: The little brown box.
Date: 2008-10-07 10:14 pm (UTC)So you know what I'm talking about, a non-worksafe image is something that is likely to get someone in trouble if they open it in a standard office workplace, usually because of nudity, profanity, or violence. There was a pornographic picture on your journal, so I had to close that window very quickly.
Cut tags are a way for LJ users to hide the body of long posts or posts that contain non-worksafe material, so other users skimming their friends list or your journal multiple entries at a time have to click a link to read the full piece.
To make a cut in an entry, type <lj-cut text="Here's the cut tag!"> and then type whatever the long part is. To end the cut, type </lj-cut> and after that point stuff will display in the short form of the entry again.
What I just typed would display as:
To make a cut in an entry, type ( Here's the cut tag! ) and after that point stuff will display in the short form of the entry again.
Except the bold part would be a link. I hope you find this useful.
Feel free to friend me and follow along if you like! My apologies again for being so short with you. It's been a long week.
Re: Your politics icon.
Date: 2008-10-08 03:43 am (UTC)Goody goody.
Roger all of that.
Every bit of it is clear as a bell.
In fact I now feel empowered to attempt my first bit of coding ever.
Depending on skill, the other image; (with the brown star) may soon dissappear.
I still would like to know how to insert a dynamic icon, similar to your own political icon; (but with my own content): I really love it.
That can wait.
Thanx for the friend invitation also, that has been another stumbling block, which it is high time I brokethrough regarding. That'll happen.
Right now I am shutting down for the night.
No apologies neccessary, I regard anger as a healthy dynamic.
Thanx again.
