I have a doctor's appointment in an hour and didn't do my homework. First person who gives me a full list of STDs that I should be tested for gets a cookie.

I said full testing and she did HIV/Gonorrhea/Chlamydia and that's IT. I was so dumbfounded that I forgot to dig out my list from last time I did this. Help?

Edit: Cookies to be awarded after I survive my appointment! Thanks!

Herpes, syphillis, genital warts. Can't think of any more besides those you listed, though I'm sure there are some obscure ones.

It's my understanding, from talking to the nice lady at PP when I last went in and requested this, that there isn't a good test for this, that the only ways of testing are visual and cervical smear indicating neoplastic cells. I'd be interested in finding out differently, although she had a BS in microbiology.

There's a test for the most dangerous strains, called the Hybrid Capture II HPV DNA test. I think it can only be done on women, though, and is rather new and sometimes hard to get. The FDA has approved it for women over 30; if you're under 30 you have to explicitly ask for it, and may have to talk your doctor into it.

I don't know that much about it; someone on livejournal posted a link a couple of months ago. So take with a shaker of salt.

You'll have to get a Western Blot Herpes test kit from the UW. The standard STD test doesn't catch Herpes. :(

Er. Although I freaked out once and got myself tested for syphillys, it has very obvious first-stage symptoms and doesn't usually warrant a test.

Many doctors recommend against testing for herpes since the virus is *extremely* common and often doesn't result in any symptoms....I guess one has to balance that against the cases in which it results in really bad symptoms.

I went to PP and they charged me $200 extra for the Herpes tests. They told me they don't normally bother when there aren't symptoms. Apart from that I got the same tests you had plus Hepatitis of some kinds. No HPV test for guys. (And I was negative on everything.)
